FAQ

Questions we are asked.

If your question is not answered here, contact us directly.

What does SAWYERR actually do?

We identify private-market opportunities, underwrite them, structure the transaction and deploy capital. Depending on the opportunity that may mean providing financing, acquiring equity, acquiring an underlying asset, or structuring a combination.

Are you a lender?

Not in the conventional sense. Financing is one of four strategies. Where an opportunity is better suited to equity or asset ownership, that is what we propose. We do not turn every capital request into a loan.

Are you a bank or a fund manager?

No. Sawyerr Alternatives Limited is not a bank, a deposit-taking institution, a licensed fund manager or an investment adviser. We are a private markets investment company.

What size of transaction do you consider?

Indicatively NGN 10 million upwards for credit, and NGN 25 million upwards for equity and real assets. These are mandate parameters rather than fixed limits.

How long does assessment take?

Initial screening is quick, usually within days. Full underwriting depends on the size and complexity of the transaction and on how quickly documentation is provided.

What documentation will you need?

At minimum: company documents, financial information, and evidence of the underlying transaction such as a contract, purchase order, invoice or offtake agreement. Requirements vary by structure.

Do you require security?

Usually. The form depends on the transaction and may include assignment of receivables, asset title, guarantees, escrow arrangements or insurance.

What do you not fund?

Consumer and personal borrowing, speculative trading, unsecured personal expenditure, businesses without an identifiable commercial model, transactions with unverifiable counterparties, and opportunities where the use of capital is unclear.

Can I invest with SAWYERR?

SAWYERR works with appropriately qualified capital partners on specific, identified transactions. This is not a public investment offer and participation is subject to qualification, disclosure and documentation.

Do you publish returns?

No. We do not publish assets under management, internal rates of return, portfolio figures or investor returns. Transaction case studies are published once concluded and where confidentiality permits.

Is my information confidential?

Information submitted is used only to assess the opportunity. We treat commercial information as confidential and expect the same in return.

What happens if you decline?

We aim to respond to every submission, including those we decline, and to tell you plainly why. A transaction that does not fit today may fit later.
